2025 FAFSA Night

The 1st annual FAFSA Night will be held at the Raymond E. Santymers Student Union & Activity Center in Front Royal, Virginia. Open to current Seniors and Juniors in the Shenandoah Valley, this event will bring families and representatives from Laurel Ridge Community College together to complete the 2025 FAFSA Application. This event is free to attend and has limited capacity. Registration is strongly encouraged.

Who should attend:

Any student, regardless of income, who wants to be considered for federal, state, and school financial aid programs. This includes grants, scholarships, work-study funds, and loans.

What do I need:

  • Verified account username and password (FSA ID)
  • Parent or spouse contributor name, date of birth, Social Security number, and email address
  • Income and asset information (if required)

A free dinner will also be offered during the event.

 

Documents and Information Needed for FAFSA Completion

For the Student and Parent/Contributor(s):

Personal Identification:

  • Social Security Numbers (SSNs) or Alien Registration Numbers (if not a U.S. citizen).
  • Driver’s license or state ID (if applicable).

Financial Information:

  • Federal income tax returns for 2023 (e.g., IRS Form 1040).
  • W-2 forms or other records of income earned in 2023.
  • Records of untaxed income (e.g., child support, veteran benefits, disability payments).
  • Bank statements and records of investments (excluding retirement accounts).
  • Details of any small business or farm assets (if applicable).

FSA ID:

A Federal Student Aid (FSA) ID for both the student and one parent (used to electronically sign the FAFSA). If you don’t already have an FSA ID, you can create one at fsaid.ed.gov or we can help create one at the event. Who is considered a contributor?
Use FAFSA’s Contributor Tool to find out.

Optional but Helpful:

  • A list of schools the student is interested in attending (up to 10 schools can be included).
  • Information on any scholarships, grants, or other resources already received.

Event Preparation Tips for Families:

  • Gather these documents and information in advance and bring them to the event.
  • Ensure you and your parent(s) know your FSA ID login credentials. If you don’t have an FSA ID, set it up at least 3 days before the event.
  • Review the FAFSA process ahead of time by visiting studentaid.gov.

At the Event:

Computers and internet access will be available for completing the FAFSA online if you cannot bring your own.

If you have any specific concerns or unusual circumstances (e.g., changes in financial status), bring documentation or notes to discuss with an expert.
